CHATEAU JEAN-BOURREL STATELY VILLA IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE
Located on the outskirts of the small town of Quillan, a two minute walk into town. The house has been restored and improved with wooden floors and beautiful decor, keeping some of the most poignant features of the original build
A large modern kitchen has been installed to cater for large parties, and en-suite bathrooms have been instated with marble tiles and contemporarily designed bathroom fittings.
The bedrooms are light, airy and warm, some having verandas that look out over the gardens.
Five bedrooms, (three en-suite) ranged over two floors, all with large double beds.
The central main 'Salon' (living room) is large enough for dancing, and hosting large parties. With a wood fire in the Salon and central heating this house never gets cold. Large roof terrace on the 2nd floor with Cedar wood hot tub large enough for ten people, pagoda, tables and chairs, and a barbecue cooker for those Al fresco moments.
The garden has places to explore and beautiful trees and for those keen on fishing just bring a rod and line because all you have to do is step out your front door.
With romantic vineyards & mountains and a river cascading through the town, you can kayak, white-water raft, fish, swim, sunbathe, some thing for everyone. This small town of Quillan is protected by a circle of 'hills', The town sits in a bowl and you only have to walk a short distance in any direction to get lovely views of the town. Although the inhabitants only number maybe four to five thousand they are served by four banks, two or three bakers (Boulanger), a fishmonger (poissonnier) butcher and tobacconist, classy bars and restaurants.
There are regular markets, as is the French way, as well as many music and sporting events including, on certain years the Tour de France cycle race which passes through the town.
The town is also home to many artists and artisans.
This is a very special area in many ways, home to the Cathars in the 1100’s, nearby is the famous Rennes Les Chateau (www.renneslechateau.com).
There is a dinosaur museum, with a dig you can join in! Also a hat museum nearby, you can get to them all by train if you don't drive or by taxi.
Wine routes: The Languedoc Roussillon area is well known for the vast vineyards, Quillan is in the middle of the Corbiere Fitou and the Blanquette de Limoux with many small vineyards in between. Plenty of opportunity for tasting.
Sporting activities included white-water rafting, horse riding, cycling, walking, mountaineering, fishing, motor biking.

Also in the area are luscious Thermal spas all three within 20 min driving distance where you can sit in a pool or the river in water that is 25 to 30 degrees.
The Mediterranean sea is 45 minutes drive through some of the most glorious mountainous scenery.
Ski: Nearest ski is 25 min away at Camurac, les angles 45 min away, Andorra 1 hour 15 min away there are buses from Quillan.
Golf: If its golf there is a course by car or train 1 hour away in Carcassonne which works well if not everybody wants to play golf.
